Overview
A working farm in the UK needed a reliable, modern security system to protect multiple outbuildings spread across the property. Traditional wired alarm systems were impractical due to long cable runs, installation disruption, and the distance between buildings. The farm owners also wanted a system they could monitor remotely and one that would never be left unset by mistake.
Electrical & Energy Solutions Ltd delivered the ideal solution with a fully integrated AJAX wireless alarm system.
The Challenge
- Multiple farm buildings requiring protection
- Long distances between structures — the farmhouse was 140 metres from the main outbuildings
- No existing cabling infrastructure
- Need for smart monitoring and automated arming
- Desire for a internal alert in the farmhouse if the alarm triggered
The owners needed a system that was robust, long‑range, and easy to manage.
Our Solution
We designed and installed a complete AJAX wireless security system tailored to the farm’s layout and daily routines.
- AJAX Wireless Detectors for Outbuildings
Motion detectors, door contacts, and outdoor sensors were installed across the barns, workshops, and storage areas. AJAX’s long‑range Jeweller radio technology ensured stable communication even across large open distances.
- SmartHubControl Unit
The central hub provides:
- Real‑time monitoring via the AJAX mobile app
- Instant push notifications
- Remote arming and disarming
- Secure encrypted communication
- Automated Alarm Setting
To ensure the system is never forgotten, we configured:
- Scheduled arming at set times
- Geofencing to remind when entering and leaving the area to arm and disarm the alarm
This eliminated the risk of human error.
- Internal Siren in the Farmhouse
An indoor siren was installed inside the farmhouse, 140 metres away from the main buildings. If the alarm activates, the homeowners are alerted instantly — even if their phones are not nearby.
The Results
Reliable, Long‑Range Protection
The AJAX system performs flawlessly across the entire farm, providing full coverage without the need for disruptive trenching or cabling.
Smart Monitoring from Anywhere
The owners can check the system status, view alerts, and control the alarm from their smartphones — whether they’re in the fields or miles away.
Never Forget to Set the Alarm
Automated arming ensures the property is always protected, giving the owners complete peace of mind.
Instant Alerts in the Farmhouse
The internal siren provides a loud, immediate warning if anything happens on the farm, day or night.
Monitoring
24hr monitoring of the alarm via an Alarm Receiving Center (ARC) to notify keyholders if the alarm has been triggered
Conclusion
By choosing AJAX wireless technology, the farm now benefits from a modern, intelligent security system that protects multiple buildings with ease. Electrical & Energy Solutions Ltd delivered a solution that is reliable, flexible, and perfectly suited to rural environments where traditional wired systems fall short.
